  • Objectives

The Journalism and International Issues option will be delivered in 2024, subject to approval by Aix-Marseille University.

The Journalism and International Issues option provides a mastery of editorial issues within multimedia newsrooms and in an international context, with a focus on investigation and long-form formats (mooks, news documentaries, for example). This option is distinct from and complementary to EJCAM's Journalism Master's program in terms of its expectations and objectives, and is therefore aimed at students with different profiles.
From 2025 onwards, the Journalism and International Issues option will offer an optional two-week immersion program in a partner university in Lebanon, subject to funding, accommodation and safety conditions, to enable students to report on international issues with Lebanese teachers and journalists.

The Journalism and International Issues option is offered as an initial course in the first year (Master 1) and as a work-study course in the second year (Master 2).

  • Student profile

The course combines lectures and theory with practical work. It requires a high level of general knowledge and a mastery of written and oral expression. A good level of English is also essential for international journalism. Curiosity is an essential prerequisite for any student planning to become a journalist. The real career opportunities available require students to be highly autonomous, building their profile as a journalist with their own specific expertise, in a fast-changing media world.

    Graduates will be able to:

    • apply news production techniques and tools, and master the main genres of journalism
    • develop specific expertise in international journalism, based on knowledge of the practices of foreign correspondents
    • think and advise media companies on their positioning strategies

  • Career opportunities

Target positions are primarily editorial directors, journalists specialising in a particular field (political, institutional, international) or genre (investigative reporting, news documentaries, narrative journalism, long-form journalism).

  • Admission requirements

The Master's degree Information Professions is open to all students with a BAC+3 (Baccalaureate - High School Diploma + 3 years of university studies), after examination of their application.

    • Holders of a Bachelor's degree in Information-Communication from EJCAM, graduates of the 3rd year of the IEP of Aix-en-Provence
    • Holders of a Bachelor's degree in Arts, Letters, Languages, Human and Social Sciences, Political Science, Law, Economics and Management
    • Holders of a Bachelor's degree in another discipline or foreign diplomas (subject to validation by the teaching staff and the Pedagogical Commission).
Direct access to the M2 program is possible on a work-study basis, after examination of the application file.
  • Applications

Application procedures: applications must be submitted via the Sciences Po Aix website.
