  • Objectives

    The Communication strategies & press relations Master's degree will be proposed in 2024, subject to approval by Aix-Marseille University.

    The Master's degree Communication strategies & press relations is delivered on a work-study basis (professionalisation and apprenticeship contracts). This Master's degree in Information and Communication Sciences is based on a curriculum designed to complement periods spent in the workplace. The curriculum is organised around "sessions" that focus on professional skills and know-how in two main areas:

    • Communication strategies, essential for versatility as a manager and/or communications officer;
    • Press relations, i.e. relations with the media and journalists, which is what makes this Master's program so special, based on communication, information and the media.

    In addition, more theoretical courses focus on the issues involved in communication, the media and journalists, to ensure that graduates have a genuine scientific culture and reflective skills for the exercise of their professions.

  • Student profile

    This course is designed for students who want to combine academic and corporate training. Priority is given to professional skills and know-how in the field of communications and press relations, with theoretical and practical approaches. The time spent in the company also allows for professional specialisation in the field specific to the position that each student will occupy.
    While the core of the program is aimed at students who wish to become communications' managers, the specificity of press relations also presupposes a strong interest in the world of journalism and the media: in addition to a sociological and critical knowledge of these professional environments, the program gives priority to candidates with solid French language skills, both written and oral, and a good general culture. These skills are essential in influential professions where inter-individual relations and institutional logics are central. Indeed, this course prepares students for positions with a high level of responsibility.
    To ensure students' versatility, the course also offers to develop a core of digital and creative skills: introduction to the Adobe suite, image capture, photography, editing and image retouching, publications for digital social networks, filming/editing and publications with a smartphone.

  • Career opportunities

    Thanks to its versatility, this course enables students to occupy most communications officer positions that do not require highly specific professional skills (coding, SEO, etc.). Its specificity, linked to press relations, prepares students for communications' professions in which strategic thinking, consulting and influence are central.
