M1 journalism students enjoy an immersive experience in Mauritania

03 avril 2025
Mauritanie conference de redaction

From March 29 to April 11, 2025, Master 1 Journalism students embark on a unique field experience in Mauritania. As part of the "Immersive Field Practices" course, they will produce web and audiovisual reports (Mojo journalism), which will be published on the Master Journalisme le 13informé website.

This project, carried out in partnership with Médias & Démocratie, is part of an international cooperation initiative to help French-speaking African journalists keep pace with changes in their profession.
The students are divided into two groups:
- 1st group: March 29 to April 4
- 2nd group: April 5 to April 11

They will work in collaboration with 10 Mauritanian journalists in continuing education, and will be supervised by an EJCAM teacher and two Media & Democracy trainers. A newsroom will serve as a rallying point before their field reports.

A focus on migration
The students will cover the theme of migration from several angles:
- Intra-African migration
- Europe-Africa relations
- Environmental and economic issues
- The role of women in migratory flows.

This professional immersion will enable them to hone their journalistic skills while immersing themselves in the realities of the field alongside Mauritanian colleagues.
