M2 IEP/EJCAM/Student project: 12 actions proposed to improve the living environment of Aix-en-Provence

Lucile Duclau, Emma Maury et Camille Yildiz

"In September 2021, all three of us (Duclaux Lucile, Maury Emma and Yildiz Camille) engaged in the tutored project entitled "Adava / CIQ / Devenir: local coalition to identify 10 principles of a new urban project".

In the framework of our Master 2, Information professions, Consulting, influence communication and public relations course, we have been asked to carry out a tutored project. The tutored projects allow us to be part of a professional context by accompanying companies or associations in order to carry out concrete actions that are entrusted to us.

The project was born out of a collective observation by Adava Pays d'Aix (an association for the development of cycling, walking and public transport), the Neighbourhood Interest Committees (CIQ) and Devenir (an association of architects and urban planners for a more humane and harmonious living environment in Aix-en-Provence) on the lack of collective debate on the city, its development, its future and its links with its environment. Our mission was to identify the common denominators between the three Aix associations and find 10 common proposals on the future of the city and its urban project. Thus, the objective was to help the associations to be better heard by the city, its inhabitants and the media.

The project was articulated around the organization and the animation of four workshops bringing together the three structures. It resulted in the production of an advocacy document: an opinion piece published on Tuesday, February 1 in La Provence. This summary document sets out 12 actions grouped into 4 themes: "Co-constructing the city with the inhabitants", "Encouraging alternatives to the car", "Planning for all", "Rethinking the living environment" in order to make Aix-en-Provence an attractive and welcoming city for all.

Thanks to this tutored project, we were able to understand the associative environment in a more professional way. We met and worked with people who have a high level of expertise on specific urban planning and mobility issues, and benefited from their knowledge and experience.

Duclaux Lucile, Maury Emma, Yildiz Camille are supervised by Samuel Goëta, Associate Lecturer, Sciences Po Aix.
