‘The press card? What a story!’: an exhibition exploring 90 years of journalism

12 octobre 2026
Expo CCIJP

To mark the 90th anniversary of the Commission for Professional Journalists’ Identity Cards (CCIJP), the exhibition ‘The press card? What a story!” will be on display in Marseille from 12 to 29 October 2026 at the Aix-Marseille School of Journalism and Communication (EJCAM), Marseille campus.

For the occasion, Catherine Lozac'h, president of the CCIJP, was at the EJCAM to present the exhibition to the students.

Introduced in 1936, the press card has accompanied the evolution of the journalism profession and its working environment for 90 years. Through this exhibition, the CCIJP invites visitors to look back at this history and understand how journalism has transformed over the decades.
Through a selection of documents, archive material and personal accounts, ‘The Press Card? What a Story!’ traces the evolution of the profession, from the print media to digital media, via radio and television.

The exhibition also explores several key themes that have shaped the history of journalism: from the first journalists to hold a press card in 1936 to the changes taking place today; the role of women in the profession; war reporting; press cartoonists; the evolution of technology and journalistic practices; and the new challenges facing media professionals.

A look at journalism of the past and the challenges of the future

Beyond the history of the press card, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the role of journalists in society and on the changes currently reshaping the world of news.
At a time of proliferating sources, disinformation, social media and the rise of artificial intelligence, the roles and responsibilities of journalists are more than ever at the heart of the debate.
Held at EJCAM, a school that trains future professionals in journalism and communication, the exhibition also provides an opportunity to foster a dialogue between the history of the profession and the questions raised by new generations of journalists.
