DécODDex" lecture series

DécODDex is a project designed and run by students in EJCAM's Master 1 Communication and Sustainable Development / Ecological Transitions program.
Winner of AMIDEX's call for projects on Training for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this program is supported and financed by Aix Marseille University.

Raising awareness, understanding and taking action
The aim of the DécODDex project is to raise awareness among all EJCAM students of the major challenges of the ecological transition, both in their daily lives and in their future professional practice in journalism and communications.
Through this cycle, students are invited to decode the most topical environmental issues and to make a concrete commitment to disseminating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A collective, cross-disciplinary project
DécODDex aims to create a common dynamic around the SDGs for EJCAM's eight Masters programs.
The program is part of a global and innovative approach, integrated into initial and continuing training courses and, from 2024, into sandwich courses.
The project also includes a promotion and memory component: the experts' contributions are recorded and broadcast in the form of podcasts, webzines, radio and TV programs, accessible to all amU students on amU Pod.

An annual lecture series
Since October 2023, four conferences have been organized each year.
Each addresses a major issue of the ecological transition and the SDGs, bringing together:
- Scientific experts recognized in their fields;
- Communication and journalism professionals committed to the ecological transition;
- Students, who design, run and promote each event.

The role of students
Students from the Ecological Transitions Master's program play a central role in the whole process. As a group, they :
1. Design the content: choice of theme, selection of speakers, creation of media and upstream communication.
2. Organize and run the conference: managing logistics, welcoming guests, leading discussions and on-site coordination.
3. Promote the event: produce interviews, podcasts, radio and TV programs, then send the material to the management team.

Promotional workshops
Each afternoon of the conference is dedicated to value-adding workshops.
Supervised by EJCAM's teaching and technical staff, these workshops enable students to transform conference content into multimedia productions: interviews, podcasts, radio and TV shows.
These productions enrich the resources of the university community and extend the impact of the DécODDex project.

A lasting commitment
Through DécODDex, EJCAM is affirming its commitment to training in sustainable development issues, by training responsible communicators and journalists capable of understanding, analyzing and communicating the challenges of ecological transition.
