Created in 2007, La Chance's mission is to promote social diversity in the newsroom by removing the financial and cultural barriers to entry into the profession.
Every year, over 400 volunteer professional journalists help students prepare for the competitive entrance exams to journalism schools recognized by the profession. La Chance is present in 7 French cities: Bordeaux, Grenoble, Marseille, Paris, Rennes, Strasbourg and Toulouse. The scheme is aimed at students with scholarships or equivalent, whether they are studying information and communication, humanities or any other discipline. In addition to academic preparation, La Chance provides financial support and personalized follow-up to help students find employment.
The first Equal Opportunity preparatory class in the media field, La Chance was recognized in 2015 by La France s'engage, a presidential initiative that rewards the most innovative socially useful actions.
