  • Objectives

    The General Interest Communication option will be delivered in 2024, subject to approval by the Aix-Marseille University.

    The General Interest Communication Option trains students in organisational communication in the field of general interest oriented towards responsibility (social, informational, educational, cultural, health and well-being, etc.) by a diversity of stakeholders. The course combines teaching on organisational communication strategies and practices with media and digital communication. Methodology courses in the social sciences are combined with vocational and operational tutorials on communication and the media in relation to changes in society and the expectations of the public.

    The aims of this option are to :

    • Train students for a dual specialisation in organisational communication and general interest communication.
    • Understand the cross-sectoral field of general interest communication, the stakeholders involved (communications agency, association or NGO, local authority or public body, healthcare establishment, company, etc.) and the audiences it addresses, its modes of regulation, and the missions on which its practices are based.
    • Acquire the fundamentals of organisational communication in its various dimensions and put them into practice: internal-external and event communication, identity and image strategies, crisis communication, public and press relations, influence communication and lobbying.
    • Training in media and digital communication practices: creating written, audio and video content, editing on the web and social media, mastering digital publishing tools, mediatraining.
  • Student profile

    The courses target students with a great interest for organisational communication as well as media and digital communication, in the area of ​​general interest.

  • Career opportunities

    • In charge of an organisations' external-internal communications, event communications, press relations, public relations, etc.
    • Digital communications and information publishing manager, web editor, community manager
    • Information-communication and media project manager for information or prevention campaigns and initiatives.
    • The course can also lead to enrolment for a thesis in Information and Communication Sciences.
  • Admission requirements

    The program is aimed at students with a professional integration project in the cross-sectoral field of general interest, with a great interest for the social sciences.
    The General Interest Communication Option is opened to all students with a BAC+3 (Baccalaureate - High School Diploma + 3 years of university studies), after examination of their application. Direct entry into the 2nd year of the master's program is possible for holders of a BAC+4 (Baccalaureate - High School Diploma + 4 years of university studies), on the basis of an application file.
    Access to the M 1 General Interest Communication option is reserved for candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Information-Communication, and for all candidates with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent profile, subject to a favorable decision by the teaching staff (based on a review of applications) and the Teaching Commission. This course is opened to continuing education.

  • Internship

    Internships are provided in public and private organisations. Pedagogical projects, in the form of workshops anchored in the professional world in the cross-sectoral field of communication on subjects of general interest, are an integral part of the curriculum. In-company projects during the course, a five-month internship is possible at the end of the first year, and a six-month internship is possible at the end of the second year, including an 8-week compulsory internship.
